INVERKIP COMMUNITY COUNCIL
Minutes of Business Meeting
Held on Thursday 12th June 2003
In the Inverkip Hotel

Present: Innes Nelson (Chair), Ron Potter (Vice Chair), Cliff Lyons and Lorraine Marshall (Secretary).
Apologies: Lynne Chambers, Paul Maloney and Robert Polland.
In Attendance: Cllr Eric Forbes, David McCallum, Duncan Luke ( both form the Greenock & District Scout Movement), Enrico Giovannacci and Stefano Bonatti (both from Kip Lodge Development).

Innes Nelson welcomed all present. At 7.30pm the meeting was opened.

Cllr Forbes advised that he has spoken to Inverclyde Council regarding the displaying of the Cloch Road end roundabout plans in Gourock Library and not Inverkip.
He had another meeting to attend and excused himself.

Everton Scout Camp: David McCallum & Duncan Luke wished to give us on overview of the Scout camp history and why the site is very important. They are concerned by the Stewart Milne Development which could possibly surround the camp with housing.

The camp, formerly a quarry, is 1.25 miles above the village and has been there since 1922. The Shaw Stewarts sold the land to the Scouts around 1986. They purchased an area of 6 acres, incorporating a pool, lodge building sleeping 24 valued at £200K.
Several "old scouts" have had their ashes interred or scattered here and there are 6 burial plots, rendering this area "sacred".
The Scouts have been involved in discussions with Stewart Milne Group throughout the development.
Groups are expected to visit the scout camp from USA, Germany and a partially planned Royal visit.
The Scouts have in the past opposed the Local Plan(1989), at that stage their objection was heard but the proposal for low density housing remained.

The scouts extended their invitation to host a meeting for us at the camp and to show us round so we too could appreciate the full value of this site within Inverkip.

Kip Lodge Developments: Enrico Giovannacci and Stefano Bonatti advised us that they expect works to start onsite within the next 4-5 weeks. The A78 road alterations will be finished before the shop etc are operational. They have an expected build time of 18 weeks. They hope for the opening to be November. The plan is still for a flagship Londis (about the size of Iceland Greenock), Coffee shop with terrace, Fastfood carry out, Police Office and Nursery.

Rico wished to have a later meeting once the build is complete to discuss with ourselves and the Sports Club the next phase of a Sports development.

Police matters:
PC Gisbey was unable to attend the meeting but had handed in the leaflets regarding holidays/properties earlier. No crime figures were available as the computer had gone down.

David Cairns & Duncan McNeil had invited many members of the locality to a coffee morning In the Church Hall on Saturday 14th to discuss issues in the area. Greenock High School had written requesting a donation for children taking a trip to Paris. Currently we do not have funds available for this and as the trip takes place soon we are unable to help.

Merger of Community Councils: Without Cllr Forbes we had no updated info. Carry forward to next meeting.

Date & Time of Next Meeting: 3rd July 2003,at 7.30 pm in Inverkip Hotel.

Other Business: Primrose area residents have had a meeting (52 in attendance) discussing the Dalriada development.
Main concerns are still noise, smell from paintball (acrylic paint). Recent article in Daily Record has highlighted concerns.
Residents have agreed to contact Fraser Williamson and Eric Forbes with their concerns.
Residents plan if the development is turned down to form a steering committee and tidy up the Dalriada area. Should this be the case funding from the Daff Glen Account could be released to help this.

Robert Polland is to put a copy of the plan for the Cloch Road End Roundabout up in the local notice board.

Village Notice Board: Innes Nelson is to quote for replacement Perspex.

Inverkip pre 5 centre: they are holding their AGM on 25 June 03 they have several proposals for changes.

Marine Court: Cliff Lyons presented photos regarding the landscaping at both sides village/marina. The Marina is obviously maintained and the village side left. Promises had been made that both sides would be maintained in the same manor when the land was purchased from Marine Court residents.
Robert Polland is to follow this up, checking pervious correspondence. Write again to Martin Latimer and copy Manor Kingdom.

There being no further business the meeting was closed at 10.00pm.
